At Milano Design Week, Pininfarina has announced a series of events that place its design language to the fore, as they show the evolution of design between heritage and the future.
Happenings in Milan
From April 20 to 26, Pininfarina plays a leading role in the exhibition “10 Years of Open-Air Motor Shows”, hosted at Via Tortona 35, showcasing two emblematic vehicles that embody the brand’s capacity to innovate: the Battista Nino Farina and the Honda HP X. The exhibition celebrates the format conceived by Andrea Levy, which since 2015 has brought open-air motor shows to Turin, Milan and Monza, transforming iconic public spaces into a grand stage for the automobile.
The Battista Nino Farina combines extreme performance with refined styling in an exclusive edition inspired by the first Formula 1 World Champion. Finished in Rosso Nino livery with Glorioso Gold details and “01” decals, it delivers 1,900 hp and record breaking acceleration figures. Alongside this modern icon stands the Honda HP X, a revolutionary concept developed with Honda in 1984 and recently restored at Pininfarina’s workshops in Cambiano at the behest of JAS Motorsport (read below).
On April 21 at Terrazza Martini, as part of the Car Design Dialogues organized by Car Design News, Pininfarina headlined an exclusive panel entitled “Vision to Form: at the Heart of Pininfarina Design.” The discussion featured CEO Paolo Dellachà, Head of Exterior Design Dimitri Vicedomini, and Chief Creative Designer Tigran Lalayan, and - also through insights from Pininfarina Shanghai’s design team - offered an in-depth look at the company’s creative process, showing how ideas develop and evolve across different cultures and areas of expertise.
Made for Motorsport
During the panel, the JAS Tensei project by JAS Motorsport was presented in world premiere, with the unveiling of a 1:5 scale model. “Tensei”, a Japanese term meaning “rebirth”, is JAS Motorsport’s first high performance road car, inspired by the first-generation Honda NSX and reinterpreted through a new, contemporary vision of the Gran Turismo concept. Designed by Pininfarina, the car features a full carbon fibre body based on a 1990s Honda NSX platform and integrates motorsport derived technical solutions, an area in which JAS has been successfully active for over thirty years. The project achieves a perfect balance between faithfulness to the original DNA and technological and stylistic innovation.
The JAS Tensei will also be in the spotlight at the 15th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, taking place from April 24 to 26, through an event dedicated to clients, VIPs and media. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Pininfarina’s design team - including Vicedomini and Lalayan, as well as Senior Design Manager Raffaele Gerace - and explore the creative and stylistic journey behind a car already poised to become an icon.
Driving through the City
In Milan, on the evening of April 21, the Battista Nino Farina left the Via Tortona exhibition to drive through the city streets and reach the Brera district, where it took centre stage at a private event hosted at Reflex’s showroom, a long standing Pininfarina client in the product design sector.
Through this special presentation, Pininfarina reaffirms its central role on the international design stage, bringing to Milano Design Week a narrative that spans past, present and future, and once again highlighting the company’s unique ability to transform vision into form.
