Czech lighting company Sans Souci, renowned for creating tailor-made decorative lighting fixtures, glass objects and architecture features for projects around the world, has launched a new statement light in India, Contour, which has been inspired by nature, with the leaf as the central motif.
The designers at Sans Souci are constantly inspired by nature, and this light is no different. It does veer into the world of fantasy, with the contours and colours of this make-believe universe. Designer Klara Mikesova has played with optical illusions as she defines the main component of Contour – the metallurgical glass leaf. The optical décor follows the veins of a real leaf. The gold leaf edges lend it an extra touch of beauty, so that while it looks as though the entire leaf is gilded, the fact is, it is only an optical illusion.
COBALT - GOLDEN EDGES by Sans SouciThe magnificent light is made up of several hand-blown, gilded crystal leaves that create a shimmering effect. They come with subtle colour shades: Crystal and soda and golden edges; Opal shards and golden edges; Smoke shards and golden edges; Smoke shards and silver mica and silver edges; Amber shards and golden mica and golden edges; Rosalite shards and silver edges; Cobalt smoke shards and golden edges; Cobalt and golden edges.

Sans Souci is the name behind some of the most stunning light installations – in the Ritz-Carlton, Pune, the Maximilian Hotel, Prague, the King’s Casino, Prague, and the Ritz-Carlton, Berlin, among numerous other luxury commercial and private projects.

Lifestyle Insider is a showcase of all that is beautiful and luxe. Behind every creation, is a designer, chef, entrepreneur, or a design maison. I have delved into my own appreciation for objetsde luxe that I have admired over the years – be it a love of fashion from the world’s top Parisian and Italian fashion maisons and their ’90s muses, or the care that goes into sari and Indian textile collections in my own family. Growing up on four continents, as the daughter of a former Indian Ambassador, I’ve seen a remarkable array of historic places and met a myriad people. My aim is to bring my world view into this website, a curation of what I find particularly stunning, unique, and newsworthy.
It’s an exciting time for brands all over the world. With change comes opportunity. With the global ‘reset’ and uncertainty on many fronts, there is a chance to write a new script. Let’s be those pioneers.
