Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann unveils 'My Dream Christmas' by Charles de Vilmorin with guest star Juliette Armanet.

To celebrate the launch of My Dream Christmas at Galeries Lafayette held an exceptional event on the evening of 15th of November 2023, with designer Charles de Vilmorin and singer Juliette Armanet as guests of honour.

The celebrities joined Galeries Lafayette CEO Nicolas Houzé to inaugurate this year’s Christmas windows on Boulevard Haussmann – twelve windows that bring to life the magical tale dreamt up by the fashion designer.

After the ceremonial lighting of the Giant Christmas Tree, guests were treated to a live show under the iconic glass dome, with Juliette Armanet performing a personal rendition of “Love Me Tender” and then her own hit song “Le Dernier Jour du Disco”.

This year Galeries Lafayette brings to life the vision of the Artistic Designer by capturing the essence of everyone's childhood: the adventures of a little girl and her magic paintbrush travelling through an imaginary world.

“My name is Charles de Vilmorin. I’m a designer, a dreamer, a stylist, an illustrator and an artist who’s still a child at heart. And I was born on Christmas Day. All the more reason to team up with Galeries Lafayette to create a fashion-focused festive celebration: My Dream Christmas.

Creating My Dream Christmas was child’s play in every sense of the term. We thought of everything, from the Giant Christmas Tree under the dome to the iconic window displays on Boulevard Haussmann, along with a special capsule collection and a host of exclusive collaborations with my favourite brands. I was even able to write my very own Christmas tale, bringing my drawings, imagination and creations to life. My inspiration came from a story that captures the innocence of everyone’s childhood: the adventures of a little girl and her magic paintbrush travelling through their imaginary world. A dreamer with boundless imagination and creativity, escaping into her own little world to enjoy a truly amazing Christmas – just like me.”

I have delved into my own appreciation for objetsde luxe that I have admired over the years – be it a love of fashion from the world’s top Parisian and Italian fashion maisons and their ’90s muses, or the care that goes into sari and Indian textile collections in my own family. Growing up on four continents, as the daughter of a former Indian Ambassador, I’ve seen a remarkable array of historic places and met a myriad people. My aim is to bring my world view into this website, a curation of what I find particularly stunning, unique, and newsworthy.

It’s an exciting time for brands all over the world. With change comes opportunity. With the global ‘reset’ and uncertainty on many fronts, there is a chance to write a new script. Let’s be those pioneers.

A bit about me:
A luxury and fashion journalist with 25 years of experience in publishing and magazine journalism, I have edited some of India’s top fashion and luxury magazines. I got my BA in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley, and went on to receive my Master’s in English and French from the University of Strasbourg, France. I have also studied German and Film. I live in Gurugram, India, and look forward to once again exploring our world with a new-found freedom.
