Designer Arpita Mehta has just launched her first flagship in Khar, in the heart of Mumbai, a calm oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city.

“I was looking for a space that felt special, something that had a charm about it, and this space is just that,” says Arpita. “With a massive facade and an entryway lined with trees, this is a slice of calm in the city I love. A stone’s throw from our workshop, the flagship store is a dream come true, and finally, a place to engage with our shoppers every day.”

The store is a collection of memories in dust pink. Interior architect Ravi Vazirani built this space, balancing minimalism and a sense of luxury. The terrazzo-tiled floor reflects memories of summer with Nani, and the Indian Patent Stone facade in dust pink harks back to holidays on Mykonos island. This detail extends into cozy nooks within the store using custom mid-century modern furniture – the cane chairs, a plush velvet couch, and beautiful rugs could almost make you believe you’re in Arpita’s home discussing your wardrobe. Heirloom silverware adds to this feeling of cosy intimacy. The store uses a minimalist style to keep one’s attention on the colours bursting through the garments. The easy balance between space and design makes this retail store a serene exploration of luxury.

A bit about me:
A luxury and fashion journalist with 25 years of experience in publishing and magazine journalism, I have edited some of India’s top fashion and luxury magazines. I got my BA in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley, and went on to receive my Master’s in English and French from the University of Strasbourg, France. I have also studied German and Film. I live in Gurugram, India, and look forward to once again exploring our world with a new-found freedom.
